Deep Tissue Massage

Deep-tissue massage is a variety of different massage techniques that are used to reach the deepest layers of muscle tissue, and fascia (connective skin which encloses the muscles and other organs). This type of massage is often used to reduce pain and inflammation and helps to recover from injuries. Deep tissue massage can be combined with other massage techniques such as manual therapy (alternative way to treat problems with the spine and joints). The massage is not always painful and even on the contrary, can be extremely pleasant.

Is a special massage form for the solution of persistent tensions in muscle and fascia tissue. Through targeted pressure on the muscle-tendon-transition of one or several muscles, tense tissue can be solved in a targeted manner. The receptors in the tissue "switch" the muscles, so to speak, on pressure, and the organism can reorient itself. The treatment is based on the feeling of wellbeing. This means that only the body is massaged where the body is also accessible for it.

Deep tissue massage, deeply deep connective tissue massage or deep massage - this is a form of soft tissue therapy aimed at restoring balance in the deeper layers of connective tissue and muscles by eliminating tensions and restrictions in the myofascial system.

Art Riggs - the author of the book "Deep tissue massage" gives the following definition of this type of massage: "Understanding the layers of the body and the ability to work with tissue in these layers to relax, extend and release the persistent patterns of abnormal tension in the most effective and energy-saving way possible".

In deep massage, every move and technique should be targeted. There is no slipping of the tissues, as in ordinary panic, the work of the masseur with each move tends to affect the structure, and not just nourish the tissue. In addition to open hands and fingertips, deep tissue massage also uses ankles, fists, elbows and forearms. The technique of performing the procedure should be ergonomic - the pressure should not come from the tension of the masseur, but thanks to the right position and height of the table - from its weight.

Deep tissue massage - operation:

  • increasing the elasticity of tissues;
  • elimination of myofascial trigger points;
  • regulation of myofascial tension;
  • restoring correct posture;
  • increase in mobility in the joints;
  • improvement of blood supply to tissues.
